Funeral Flower Arrangements & Standing Sprays

If you are sending flowers to a church, cemetery, or funeral home, it is recommended that you order one of our funeral flower arrangements and/or standing sprays as they are completely appropriate for that type of venue. In regards to the standing sprays, they are arranged on a tripod that stands about 52 inches off the ground to the middle of the arrangement itself. Some of our standing sprays have bows and some do not, so as you browse our selection you can make your decision.

Standing Sprays (the ones pictured on tripods) – these flowers are arranged to hang from a tripod. They are often shaped in oblong fashion which is different than a wreath or a cross. The standing spray is a traditional arrangement that is frequently used by more distant relatives and close friends. Standing sprays are perfect for cemeteries, churches, and mortuaries and are intent to be visibly seen by those who are seated or standing further back during the service.  They can also be sent to a suitable venue, such as a nursing home, or hospital where they can bring enjoyment and comfort to others.

Some people are not sure whether to send flowers or to instead give some other sort of memorial donation. The immediate comfort and sympathy that flowers afford should not be underestimated. The nice thing is, you can send flowers to a funeral and still plan a longer-term gift, such as a donation to a charity in the name of the deceased.

When you consider how to select funeral flowers, be aware of the following other types of arrangements:

  • Casket Spray – this is a flower arrangement that is positioned on top of a casket. It is initially set at the funeral service, and then accompanies the casket to the burial site and is left at the grave. Those who favor cremation can still use a casket spray, juxtaposed next to a picture of the deceased or the cremation urn. Casket sprays are normally chosen by those closest to the deceased, such as next of kin (spouse, siblings and children).
  • Interior Casket Piece – this is a small arrangement of flowers that is placed in the top inside corner of the casket. This type of arrangement is commonly favored by grandchildren. Often, a casket piece is created to match other sprays or arrangements.

Finally, consider non-traditional touches to any funeral arrangement you choose to send. You can have living plants incorporated into the arrangement, which is a lovely symbol of resurrection and eternal life. It might also be appropriate to include items such as stuffed teddy bears or unique containers. You can choose from a selection of flowers that last longer, thereby giving mourners more time to enjoy the arrangement.
